HOME HISTORY THE EVENT COMPETITORS SPECTATORS ACCOMMODATION CORPORATE MEDIA NEWS

A championship and country not to be missed

In 1978, when the World Rowing Championships last visited New Zealand, more than 40,000 spectators watched the event unfold over a busy week of rowing.

The World Championships return to Lake Karapiro in 2010 and should once again provide a unique experience for spectators. As well as enjoying the battles on the water which will be fought out amongst the best rowing athletes in the world, visitors will have a chance to enjoy the picturesque beauty of historic Lake Karapiro and its surrounding region. And what better country than New Zealand to hold a World Championship, a country widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and last remaining unspoiled parts of the world?

If you are interested in coming to the event, we would recommend you save this page in your Favourites section and look regularly to check for updates on ticket availability and prices.

There will be a number of options and we are aiming to make it as accessible to as many people as we possibly can. To find out more about Lake Karapiro, the Waikato district and New Zealand, please visit
